Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the collection and disposing of recyclables from Dobbins Air Reserve Base (DARB).

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Walk through various buildings on DARB and collect recyclables into recycling containers.
  2. Lift recycling containers into a box truck, and sort recycled materials into assorted containers within the truck.
  3. Sort through collected materials to remove any mis-sorted items.
  4. Assist with offloading recycled materials and assist in baling materials at the recycling center.
  5. Assist in keeping the collection truck, recycling center and the surrounding area neat and free of debris.
  6. Wash out truck and recycling containers periodically.
  7. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  8. Ability to maintain a regular work schedule.
  9. Sort batteries, lamps, metal and paper products by type.
  10. Lift and sort wood pallets by size and condition.

  • Maintain driver’s license and clean MVR in order to operate Tommy Nobis Center vehicles.
  • Must pass and stay current with forklift certification.
  • Must pass drug screen and background check.
  • Must be able to satisfy security requirements for base access.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.


  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.

Special Skills/Abilities:


  • Ability to use hand truck, drum handler, leaf blower and pressure. Ability to drive truck and forklift.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in all types of weather.

Mental Effort:

  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and coordinate all aspects of contract operations.
  • Ability to make judgment decisions in following established guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time; ability to lift and move items up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Have a full range of motion in upper and lower body.
  • Be able to reach overhead.
  • Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Good hand dexterity.
  • Good eyesight.

Visual Effort:

  • Environment is a well-lighted facility requiring average amount of visual effort. Adaptable to driving conditions - vision correctable to 20/20.


  • Follows all prescribed safety regulations to diminish accidents.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of evacuation procedures and the whereabouts of exits and fire extinguishers.
  • Immediately report circumstances you consider may present a hazard to yourself and others.
  • Report any accident whether minor or major.
