Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Director of Foundation establishes short-term and long-term partnerships and strengthens existing relationships with the corporate and foundation sector, as well as other key communities, which will result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of the organization. The Director of Foundation is responsible for grant identification and response. Other key initiatives include annual fundraising events, annual giving campaign, planned giving and leadership of vehicle donation program.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for fundraising and increasing the visibility of Nobis Works in the community.
  • Designs, implements, and manages a comprehensive proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate, foundation and personal relationships obtaining monetary support for Nobis Works operations and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Identify grant opportunities and prepare well-developed responses to secure operating and strategic planning funding.
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards relationships with corporations, foundations, and private donors. Conduct related research to determine cultural compatibility/interest and donation potential.
  • Create compelling presentations and comprehensive fundraising proposals. Monitor proposal deadlines, prepare and edit proposals, and manage proposal submissions
  • Asks for monetary gifts for the organization.
  • Manages employee and Board annual giving campaign.
  • Prepares prospect lists, work plans, and monthly achievement reports.
  • Seeks opportunities and gives informational presentations about Nobis Works and its programs.
  • Manages and oversees contact database, data collection and analysis, monitors/analyzes trends and reports findings which may affect management decisions and/or strategic objectives.
  • Enhance and oversee annual events (currently Galaxy of Stars and the annual golf tournament) as revenue generators for Nobis Works.
  • Coordinates volunteers for events and other fundraising opportunities.
  • Evaluate and recommend future event options.
  • Be highly visible in the business and community activities.
  • Enhance and oversee the vehicle donation program as a revenue generation tool for Nobis Works.
  • Prepares budgets, statistical reports, proposals, board presentations, other materials as required.
  • Participates in Operating Board Meetings and Board Committee meetings; manages the Foundation Board of Directors with the President/CEO of Nobis Works.
  • Establish and manage a Foundation Board &ldquo: thank you&rdquo: call for vehicle and monetary donations.
  • Acts as organizational representative for local community events, business clubs/associations, etc.


  • Bachelors degree
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive certification preferred


Prior Experience Desirable:

  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated successful corporate and/or foundation fundraising experience preferably in a non-profit environment (or a comparably complex organization).
  • Minimum five years grant writing experience in a non-profit setting.
  • Knowledge of is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels in/out of the organization.
  • Strong organization, planning and follow through skills.
  • Analytically minded with an accounting aptitude.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within tight timeframes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires high energy level.
  • Must pass drug screen and background check.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

Written Communications:

Strong written skills required to create and prepare professional quality documentation and to effectively communicate with a broad range of individuals.


Strong ability to review statistical information in order to create reports, show changes, validate any deficiencies, and to establish improvement goals.

Oral Communications:

Ability to communicate and present information informally and formally to supporters and potential supports of Nobis Works strategic objectives.


Ability to lead/coach others in support of organizational and financial initiatives.


Ability to organize data, as well as work loads and work schedules. Good attendance is expected: occasional overtime may be needed.


Multi-task oriented with ability to make decisions based on employees level of responsibility and to provide common sense solutions.


Knowledge of computers, copy machines, fax machines



Other Qualifications or Requirements:


Mental Effort:

Ability to prepare and comprehend statistical data and

ability to perform the day-to-day tasks required to maintain operations in the Foundation area.

Physical Requirements:

Office environment not requiring strenuous physical qualifications.

Office environment maintaining adequate working conditions.

Visual Effort:

Well-lighted environment requiring average amount of visual effort.
